EDWIN MORGAN - POESIA - POEMAS - BIOGRAFIA

sb: série poetas

EDWIN MORGAN

ONE CIGARETTE

No smoke without you, my fire.
After you left,
your cigarette glowed on in my ashtray
and sent up a long thread of such quiet grey
I smiled to wonder who would believe its signal
of so much love. One cigarette
in the non-smoker's tray.
As the last spire
trembles up, a sudden draught
blows it winding into my face.
Is it smell, is it taste
You are here again, and I am drunk on your tobacco lips.
Out with the light.
Let the smoke lie back in the dark.
Till I hear the very ash
sigh down among the flowers of brass
I'll breathe, and long past midnight, your last kiss.

UM CIGARRO

Não há fumo sem ti, meu fogo.
Depois de teres partido,
O teu cigarro cresceu no meu cinzeiro
no cinzeiro do não-fumador.
Enquanto a última espiral
estremece, uma pequena corrente de ar
sopra o seu caminho no meu rosto.
É cheiro, é gosto?
Tu estás aqui de novo, e eu estou bêbado no teus
lábios de tabaco.
Fora com a luz.
Deixa o fumo esconder-se no escuro.
Até eu ouvir a mesma cinza
Suspirar entre as flores de bronze.
Respirarei, após a meia-noite, o teu último beijo.

Edwin Morgan

STRAWBERRIES

There were never strawberries
like the ones we had
that sultry afternoon
sitting on the step
of the open french window
facing each other
your knees held in mine
the blue plates in our laps
the strawberries glistening
in the hot sunlight
we dipped them in sugar
looking at each other
not hurrying the feast
for one to come
the empty plates
laid on the stone together
with the two forks crossed
and I bent towards you
sweet in that air
in my arms
abandoned like a child
from your eager mouth
the taste of strawberries
in my memory
lean back again
let me love you

let the sun beat
on our forgetfulness
one hour of all
the heat intense
and summer lightning
on the Kilpatrick hills

let the storm wash the plates

MORANGOS

Nunca houve morangos
Como os que tivemos
Naquela tarde quente
Sentados no degrau
Da porta francesa aberta
enfrentando-nos um ao outro
os teus joelhos próximos dos meus
os pratos azuis no colo
os morangos cintilando
na luz tórrida do sol
mergulhamo-los no acúçar
olhando um para o outro
não apressando a festa
para que venha outra
os pratos vazios
expostos sobre a pedra juntos
com os dois garfos cruzados
e eu me aproximei de ti
doce naquele ar
nos meus braços
abandonado como uma criança
da sua boca sedenta
o gosto de morangos
na minha memória
encosta-se de volta
deixa-me amar-te

deixa o sol bater
no nosso esquecimento
uma hora de tudo
o calor intenso
e o relâmpago de verão
nas colinas de Kilpatrick

deixa a tempestade lavar os pratos

  1. CRUCIAL NA VIDA DE QUEM POETA
    É CONHECER-LHE A PELE NUA,
    SENTIR-LHE OS CHEIROS,
    FUMAR-LHE AS PALAVRAS
E PERMITIR QUE ELAS SE ESFUMEM
    EM ARGOLAS DE SENTIDOS,
    ENTRE VEIAS DE CÉU
    E ESPAÇOS DA NATUREZA
    QUE SE PREENCHEM, DOMESTICADOS,
    PELOS RITMOS ACELARADOS,
    OU MELODIOSOS,
    DAS POESIAS QUE, NASCENDO,
    NASCEM NUAS DE PRAZER.
